Just
a short stop-by to share an amazing sunset over Ljubljana :)
Love being outside without gloves and/or umbrella, the first spring
flowers, bringing branches home for decoration... Life is good.
... this is what happens if you unleash a med student with no husband, no kids, no pets and too much leisure time ...

Black and white
Sometimes
I make jewelry for myself, but I mostly I make it just to try a new
technique, new beads or a new pattern. In this case, it was the
latter: these pretty huge bracelets are not my kind, and yet the
animal pattern looked so pretty (and time-consuming) that it was just the right challenge for me.
Made
of 1.6 mm delica beads, it took me quite some time to get it done,
but I think it was worth the effort. Now - who wants to adopt a
zebra?

Reminds me of...
Some
time ago, I decided that violet and silver would fit nicely in a
delica triangle.
As I was beading it, I felt the pendant would remind me of "something" and yet I couldn't figure out what it could be. Only after the triangle was done it suddenly occured to me: of course, violet represents Milka! How could a chocolate lover like me not realize that earlier?
Back then, I beaded a silver-violet ring too, but I put the pendant aside to finish the necklace later. However, this "later" never came.
With Milka-girl Tina Maze doing showing such superior results at the Olympics, it really was about time: I decided to keep the necklace simple, adding just a tiny metal chain and a small clasp. Even though I didn't plan to make the piece for myself, I now like it so much that I've decided to keep it :)

When Mother Nature reveals her powers
I
guess I haven't fully realized how the weather hit big parts of
Slovenia in the beginning of February as the conditions in Ljubljana
didn't really affect me. The trees were covered with ice, but since I
live close to the city center it actually looked lovely. I even went
for a walk through the winter wonderland.
Maybe we tend to be comfortable as long as there is electricity, and so it was only when following the news day after day that I began to see how many people ended up without electricity and heating, in their homes literally covered with ice.
Today, two weeks after the trees collapsed under the ice, I went to the Ljubljana castle. Located in the middle of then city, I couldn't recognise my usual walking paths and the hillside.

I
guess I can never imagine how damaged other parts of Slovenia are and
how long it will take for people and natur to recover.
However,
I realized something happier, too: it looks like spring is in the air

Simple bracelet
Simple
bracelet made of delica beads, using peyote technique. Even though
it's winter, the white-and-blue pattern has something that
makes me think of the sea... Maybe it reminds me of waves hitting the
cliffs?
