Little bird

A rather quick post this time, with a rather empty spring-inspired card.
Trying to catch the deadline over at craft-alnica with their "hand cut" challenge, I remembered some Nina Štajner motifs which I've pre-cut quite some time ago. They were actually featured on the cover of a Nina Štajner paper collection, but it would be almost a sin to not use the cover as well, when it looks like this!
Among the different critters, I have chosen this little bird to work with. In order to not interfere with the chosen motif, I decided to use a very soft background paper, which I found in a romance/wedding package. I'm not sure whether this is going to be a wedding card after all, but the words are subtle enough to go with any occasion.
As the card still looked a little empty, I placed a little flower-shaped button in one of the lower corners. For a little *extra*, I decorated it with a strip of raffia. I thought about adding pearls as well, but decided to stay on the CAS side of crafting this time ;)
And a rather empty central market in Ljubljana, a view I wanted to capture for ages and now managed to get due to *the circumstances*.

Animal kingdom

Another recycling/upcycling project today, this time featuring a pair of glass jars and napkin decoupage. I initially planned to decorate a wooden box using an autumn themed napkin with leafs and wildlife motifs. However, I never really got to work and at some point, I didn't even like my original plan anymore.
I put the napkin pieces that I've already prepared aside, and forgot about the whole thing - until I began to focus on the environmental part of my shopping, bringing home as little plastic as possible. All of sudden, I had lots of glass jars lying around. Many of them ended up in the waste glass container, while others stayed in my home mainly due to their handy size or the cute shape.
And all of sudden, I thought that while a clear glass jar is a wonderful thing, something must be done about the lids that always seem to have either the expiration date plastered all over them, or come with an overall unpleasant pattern/colour combination.
And so, this is what I did about it:
A couple of layers of white acrylic paint to prepare the base, and a napkin motif just big enough to cover the space without going too much over the edge.
I picked a cute little fox and a bird to see if my idea would work at all, and I must say everything went pretty smoothly. I covered the entire lid including the sides with paint and napkin, but I made sure I wouldn't get onto the inner surface in order to not mess up the closing mechanism.
And while I left the foxy glass untouched (it's just big enough for a serving of cereals on the go, and therefore requires washing after use), I decided to use the small birdy glass for storage, which is why I wrapped it in a strip of this beautiful Nina Štajner paper.
A tiny ribbon where the paper edges meet, and another project off my to-do list :)
And since there is more than enough time now to go through all the things I will organize one day: some round, warm toned memories of my favourite Prague church.

as you like it: animals or people (I'll go with animals almost all the time, although I can't point at a single reason for doing so - I think they're easy to incorporate in my non-card crafting projects, while for the cards I guess I'm just a bit unsure/shy about colouring skin, and therefore hardly ever satisfied with my results)

Spring cleaning

Just a little attempt in catching up on what I've left behind two months ago - a little spring clean that finally got rid of the deer in my entrance area, and exchanged them for something more seasonal.
Because it's good to be home after the longest time. I'm still clumsy and not able to perform many tasks that seemed the most self evident thing on Earth until recently, but I certainly hope that I'll be able to gain full independence soon.
The current spring arrangement includes a couple of branches I picked along the way (first time outside without a walking aid, yay!). Put together in a small vase, they resemble the bloom outside, however, I decided to not add any colourful flowers. Instead, I replaced the winter decoration with a assortment of disinfectant, a mask, and gloves. I don't plan any major grocery shopping as I stocked everything I need way back in January/February, knowing I won't be able to carry much - if anything - after surgery.
Who thought I'd be so right with my precautions!

And since I'm FINALLY back in my crafting corner, I already had to adjust the plain glove container into something more decorative. The round box I used is actually a tea-box, and a rather stable one, so I decided to cover it up with a sheet of patterned paper. I took a botanical print to match the greenery in the background, and added a simple cotton ribbon where the paper ends meet.
And while one tiny part looks decent, I still have quite some things to do until I'll be able to say the same about the rest of my apartment. But then again, without any visitors in sight, it doesn't really matter, does it? *looking towards my crafting supplies with thousands of ideas on my mind*
