Green drops

A while ago, I brought a couple of Miyuki drop beads from the crafting store - your typical "I was actually looking for something else, but couldn't resist" purchase. After that, they typically remained in one of my drawers for ages. Recently, however, I decided to use them in a simple beaded necklace.
To make sure the green shaded beads are the main focus of the jewelry, I combined them with beige ones. For the  inner part of the spiral, I used smaller silver beads which also add a little shimmer to the project.
As I'll probably wear the necklace to sweaters and turtlenecks, I added a rather robust clasp to finish off the whole story.
A little contribution to the May collection of Create in Austria - artwork created by Austrians and/or in Austria.

And another lovely green-and-beige combination...

Welcome baby!

Time for a new challenge over at the Fadengrafik Challengeblog, and since I've skipped the last one I better be on time this month :) We're having an "ATG" challenge this time, meaning you can link up any of your crafting projects under the condition it includes some sort of paper embroidery.
I'll again show one of the projects from my exhibition stash - a simple baby card which I made using a butterfly pattern.
Since I stitched them all the same, they give a monochrome butterfly circle which I decided to bling up by using silver yarn for their sensors as well as a shimmering silver gemstone for each of the flutering creatures.
For the background, I used a layer of sift pink cardboard, which I later glued onto a fabric with a lovely pattern of tiny silver leafs whih I've used before on a (remotely) similar card.
As the fabric itself is rather transparent, I only glued it to the card base on the areas that are covered by the stitched motif. That way, the outer part can be dog-eared in an envelope, but on the other hand as we're only talking about +/- a centimeter, I certainly hope this will  not be the case. After all, I truly hope people are civilized enough to handle handmade stuff with the care it deserves.
And talking about pink baby cards, I guess I better get myself to the post office soon to sent one off. Turns out the little princess decided to turn up a little earlier than expected, but nevertheless: Welcome baby!

And a real pink beauty, perfect for/from a rainy day. Could it be that we're slowly marching into summer already?
