The pearls used are older than I can remember, I think my sister once got them in one of those kid's jewelry sets that remained unused until she passed it on to me. Being a real hamster myself, I stored it for years as well, but I couldn't come up with any idea as to how I could use these plastic children's beads.
However, as I planned some little changes in my crafting corner, it required going through all my stash and prepare it for the new place. In an attempt to sort things out, I decided to move only the things I'll use in future, and get rid of the rest - either by gving it away or by using it up.
And so, I finally took the time to create a couple of "just because" necklaces featuring the blue plastic beads in combination with some leftover pearls from my own crafting stash. For the sake of simplicity, I decided to not mix the different shapes, meaning one necklace would be with hearts, the other with leafs...
And when everything was done, I could successfully throw a couple of empty bead boxes away :)
Since the recipient I had in mind was clear fromm the start, I decided to use a simple clasp to open and close each piece. However, they are all long enough to simply be put on over the head as well, which is of course the most convenient was for a child.
One by one or all together - because a girl can never have too much jewelry anyway. And as I heard, the particular girl is more than happy with the outcome, proudly displaying her stuff "with the hearts" to everybody.A little contribution to the December collection of Create in Austria - artwork created by Austrians and/or in Austria.
